What is Lipedema?

Lipedema is a chronic, progressive condition of fat & connective tissue in arms & legs that affects 1 out of 9 (mostly) women.  It is different than obesity.  It is different than Lymphedema & many doctors are unfamiliar with it.  It appears on the body symmetrically & can be very painful.  So much research is going on to help those who have this disease.  Exercise is one of the ways to help maintain the condition along with nutrition and other information.  There ARE doctors who can diagnose and guide you in the right direction for living with Lipedema.

More information can be found at these 2 links provided plus research on your own.

Barbara Rogers Yoga.jpg

BARBARA ROGERS, RN, BSN
Barbara Rogers has been a yoga practitioner for 30 years, a yoga teacher since 2001 and a registered nurse for 44 years. “My career in healthcare has certainly fostered a tremendous sense of understanding of both the physical and emotional benefits of a yoga practice.” Barbara tells us, “Especially as I aged, I was very drawn to the Viniyoga style of practice, learning to be calm and mindful on those stressful days.” During Barbara’s class, participants adapt poses to suit his or her needs and abilities, using the connection between breath and moment to make the movement more powerful. The movement warms up the body and prepares it for the longer holds and Viniyoga uses sequencing to prepare and release the body from each pose. Barbara lives in East Falmouth with her husband Dave.  She enjoys gardening, golf, cooking, reading, and being in nature.
